NAB Informs Lahore Court that Nawaz Sharif’s Statement Recorded in Toshakhana Reference
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has informed the Lahore accountability court that they have recorded the statement of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana reference. The case alleges that Nawaz, former president Asif Ali Zardari, and ex-prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani received luxury vehicles and gifts from the Toshakhana. In June 2020, an accountability court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the former premier. Later, he was declared a proclaimed offender in the case, and an accountability court initiated the process to confiscate his properties and make his arrest through Interpol. In October this year, an accountability court had suspended the perpetual arrest warrants issued in 2020 for the ex-premier in the case and granted him bail. During the recent hearing, Nawaz’s counsel informed the court that his client had joined the investigation and provided answers to a questionnaire. The court adjourned the hearing till Dec 20.
