Islamabad: The Supreme Court, while deciding on the assistance from religious institutions in the case of Mubarak Ahmed Thani, issued notices to the Islamic Ideological Council. The court also issued notices to Jamia Naeemia, Darul Uloom Karachi, Jamiatul Hadith, Quran Academy, and Jameatul Muntazir Lahore. The court has requested written reports within three weeks.

The Supreme Court directed that anyone who wishes to give their opinion on the court’s decision can do so in writing within three weeks. Chief Justice Justice Faez Isa chaired a three-member bench to hear the case. During the hearing, the lawyer for Jamat-e-Islami, Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, said that they have also filed a reconsideration request in the case, to which the Chief Justice said that the request was received but not yet read.

Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui said that they believe the court did not provide proper assistance in the Mubarak Thani case, as the applicant’s request to not delete multiple times was not even mentioned. The court ordered to allocate a number to Jamat-e-Islami’s request and postponed the hearing for three weeks.
