The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has summoned a meeting of its Rabta Committee on Monday to discuss the current political situation in the country and the upcoming general elections. One of the key topics of discussion will be the delimitation of constituencies for national and provincial assemblies.

The primary agenda of the meeting is to devise a strategy to advocate for a fair delimitation of constituencies. The participants will also outline MQM-P’s future course of action in light of the political landscape.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) recently announced that it is not possible to hold the general elections within the next 90 days. Instead, the elections will be based on the 2023 census data. As part of the delimitation process, the first publication of revised constituency boundaries will be on October 9, with the final publication on December 14.

The ECP has also decided to seek assistance from the provincial governments and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) during the delimitation process.
