MQM Leader Kanwar Naveed Jameel Passes Away at Age 59 in Karachi, Pakistan

Renowned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and former Sindh Assembly member, Kanwar Naveed Jameel, passed away in Karachi on Thursday after a long and arduous battle with illness. He was 59 years old, according to reports from his family.

The funeral prayer will be held at Mustafa Masjid in DHA phase-I, after Friday prayers, as per family sources.

Born in Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jameel had a successful political career, serving as a member of the National Assembly twice and as a member of the Sindh Assembly on two occasions. In the year 2005, he was elected as the Mayor of Hyderabad, making significant contributions to the city’s development during his tenure.

The MQM party expressed deep sorrow over Jameel’s demise, stating, “He was a dedicated and experienced politician who consistently advocated for the underprivileged.” Jameel is survived by his widow and two sons.

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori praised Jameel’s commitment to serving the people of Hyderabad, emphasizing his role as an advocate for the marginalized within the provincial legislature.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab paid tribute to Jameel, recognizing his integrity and exemplary conduct. He stated, “The contributions of Kanwar Naveed Jameel as the district organizer of Hyderabad will be remembered forever.”

Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed his sorrow over the loss of the MQM leader and offered prayers for the departed soul.

Kanwar Naveed Jameel’s passing has saddened the political and social landscape of Pakistan. His dedication to public service and advocacy for the underprivileged will be remembered and cherished by all.
