MQM and Muslim League (N) fail to reach consensus on seat adjustment, no agreement on NA-242

Karachi: The MQM Pakistan and the Pakistan Muslim League (N) have decided to adjust seats in various national and provincial assemblies in Sindh, including three constituencies in Karachi. However, there was no consensus on Constituency NA-242 in Karachi.

According to Express News, the seventh meeting of the committees of the MQM Pakistan and the PML (N) was held in Sindh, making seat adjustment decisions in three seats, while the MQM Pakistan backed down for constituency NA-242.

It is said that the Muslim League (N) will field its candidates in NA-229, NA-230 and provincial assemblies in this constituency, and that the MQM Pakistan will support them, and the MQM Pakistan will field its candidate for NA-231 and the provincial assembly seats.

The approval of the leadership of both parties will also allow the Muslim League (N) to field their candidate in constituency NA-239 in Karachi South District under seat adjustment, and Muslim League (N) candidates will also be contesting in the Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah, and Sukkur seats in the National Assembly, while the MQM Pakistan candidates will compete for seats in the provincial assembly.

The committees of MQM Pakistan and PML (N) could not decide on seat adjustment in constituency NA-242 in Kamari district, from where former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former Administrator Karachi Mustafa Kamal are strong contenders.

It was reported that conditional backing has been given by the MQM for this constituency, that Muslim League (N) will not field its candidate in both provincial assembly seats of this constituency, but there is a series of dialogues between the leaderships of both parties regarding this constituency, and decision is likely to be made soon.
