Karachi police have successfully apprehended a notorious extortionist who is believed to be associated with the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). The arrest was made by the Special Investigation Unit of the police.

The accused, identified as Zia alias Kala, has been charged with multiple cases of extortion and a case has been registered against him at Preedy police station.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Junaid Sheikh, a raid was conducted at the residence of the wanted extortionist. It has been alleged that Zia alias Kala operated a mafia within the Sindh Building Control Department, where he collected illegal funds and distributed them among himself and other officers.

SSP Junaid Sheikh further revealed that there have been numerous irregularities in the SBCA, particularly related to the collection of bribes. The ongoing investigation of the arrested accused is expected to unveil significant revelations regarding these irregularities. It is noteworthy that the bail of the accused was cancelled by the court last month.
