Joint Investigation Team Formed to Investigate Journalist’s Murder

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to investigate the murder of a journalist, Jan Mohammad Mahar, in Sukkur. The JIT is led by SSP Sukkur and includes members from Rangers, FIA, Intelligence Agencies, and the special branch.

The formation of the JIT came in response to the demand of the Sukkur Union of Journalists.

Yesterday, the post-mortem report confirmed that Jan Mohammad Mahar died from multiple bullet wounds. The report revealed that he was shot near his eye, chest, throat, and wrist. The medical officers determined that the wounds near his eye, chest, and throat were fatal. In total, six bullet wounds were found on his body.

In another development, a case has been registered at the Section C police station on the complaint of Jan Mohammad Mahar’s brother, Karamullah. The case was registered under the anti-terrorism act, with 11 identified and three unidentified persons being nominated in the First Information Report (FIR).

Jan Mohammad Mahar, a senior journalist and former president of the Sukkur Press Club, was killed by unidentified assailants on August 13. The attackers, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on him while he was inside his vehicle after leaving his office in Sukkur at 9:00 am.
