The Ministry of Health in the Hamas-run territory has reported that at least 67 people were killed in air raids on the overcrowded city of Rafah. The strikes, which hit 14 houses and three mosques in different parts of the city, were part of a series of strikes on terror targets in the area of Shaboura in the southern Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation would continue until Hamas was eliminated and offered “safe passage” to civilians wishing to leave, although specifics were not provided. The Israeli military also announced the rescue of two people who had been kidnapped by Hamas nearly 130 days prior. With 1.4 million Palestinians crowded into Rafah and facing a scarcity of food, water, and medicine, aid groups and foreign governments, including the United States, have expressed deep concern over the situation.
