An image depicting the aftermath of an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on a security forces’ convoy in the Razmak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district was shared on Wednesday. The military’s media affairs wing reported that two soldiers were martyred in the incident.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement identifying the martyred soldiers as 33-year-old Lance Naik Ehsan Badshah and 30-year-old Lance Naik Sajid Hussain. The ISPR also stated that a sanitization operation is underway to eliminate any terrorists in the area, emphasizing the country’s determination to eradicate terrorism.

Earlier, the ISPR announced the martyrdom of a soldier in an IED blast in North Waziristan, as well as the death of three militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Dera Ismail Khan and South Waziristan districts. Additional operations in Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the deaths of four militants and the martyrdom of a soldier.

The surge in terror activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan follows the end of a ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, August saw the highest number of militant attacks in almost nine years.
