A notification issued today announced that the cricket board will now be under the direct jurisdiction of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and will not be answerable to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) anymore.

Additionally, the notification mentioned that the IPC Secretary will no longer be a member of PCB’s Board of Governors.

This change came after Mohsin Naqvi was elected unopposed as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.

The elections took place at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore, where Punjab’s caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi became the 37th chief of the PCB. Naqvi’s term as Pakistan Cricket Board chairman will be for three years.

After the resignation of Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman, caretaker PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar appointed Shah Khawar as the election commissioner of the Cricket Board.

In January, Zaka Ashraf stepped down from his position as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee chairman after serving for at least seven months.

In a statement, Ashraf mentioned that he was working for the betterment of Pakistan cricket but was unable to work under the current circumstances. He also expressed disappointment over the nomination process, stating that it’s not the prime minister’s prerogative to nominate a new chairman.
