Karachi: Former national team chief selector and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has revealed that renowned Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Yousuf invited legendary batsman Brian Lara to accept Islam, which had a profound impact on him.

Inzamam-ul-Haq’s statement has gone viral on social media, in which he discusses the invitation to preach with national players.

The former chief selector revealed, “During the test match against the West Indies in Karachi, Mohammad Yousuf invited Brian Lara to dinner and organized a program to invite him to Islam.”

Inzamam-ul-Haq mentioned, “They are our great ones in Karachi, Sheikh Hashim, who invited Brian Lara to Islam and told how we follow the word of Allah, how we live our lives according to the ways of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and how we fulfill the rights of our parents, maintain relationships with our wives, raise our children, and fulfill the rights of our neighbors.”

Inzamam-ul-Haq further said that Brian Lara became silent upon hearing this and was so moved that he said, “Life should be spent in the same way, and our lives should be like this.”

In his video message, Inzamam-ul-Haq also said, “Harbhajan Singh had once said that he wanted to listen to the teachings of the Maulana, but upon seeing you, I stop, because your life is not like that.”

Building on this incident, Inzamam-ul-Haq addressed the people sitting in the gathering and said, “The distance from religion these days is because of us and our people.”
