The Sindh High Court has directed the Shaheed Benazirabad DIG to conduct further investigation to uncover the truth about the killing of four villagers during a law enforcers’ raid in Sakrand in September. The two-judge bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, has summoned the DIG to appear before the court on Dec 14. The DIG submitted a report stating that he had met with the complainant and injured persons and they were satisfied with the investigation conducted by the local police. However, the petitioners’ lawyer argued that the police had conducted a biased investigation and prepared fake reports. The court has ordered the DIG to conduct a further investigation and appear in person before the next hearing. The petitioners had sought a judicial inquiry into the incident, stating that four innocent men were killed and nine others injured in the raid. They also claimed that the law enforcement agencies had violated the apex court’s judgement by lodging two FIRs and taking away relatives of the aggrieved families and local villagers.
