The upcoming Interfaith Harmony Conference aims to foster unity, understanding, and respect among different religious communities. This national-level conference, scheduled to be held next week, was decided upon during a meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
The conference intends to bring together scholars of international stature from various religions and schools of thought. It will serve as a platform for open dialogue, sharing of experiences, and promoting harmonious coexistence in society.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and well-being of religious minorities. He firmly stated that the propagation of religious hatred and extremism will not be tolerated under any circumstances in the country.
Furthermore, the caretaker government is committed to ensuring justice and accountability. The prime minister assured the cabinet that exemplary punishments will be given to those involved in the unfortunate incident in Jaranwala. The government’s primary focus during this transitional period is to assist and monitor the electoral process in line with constitutional requirements.
Cabinet members were encouraged to seek briefings from their respective departments and devise work plans accordingly. The prime minister also assured them that the weekly cabinet agendas will be tailored to address their concerns and priorities.
In other news, the Finance Ministry presented a recommendation to the federal cabinet regarding the diyat amount for the current fiscal year. It was decided that the diyat amount, equivalent to 30630 grams of silver, will be fixed at approximately 6.705 million rupees.
