The organisers of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup games in the United States have announced that early ticket sales have revealed a strong demand for cricket in the country. The much-anticipated match between Pakistan and India in New York has received overwhelming interest, with tickets oversubscribed by 200 times in the public ballot.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, which has a capacity of 34,000 seats, is expected to be a sellout for the June 9 match. The tournament, co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States, will feature 16 games across various locations in the US, including Lauderhill, South Florida, and Grand Prairie Stadium near Dallas.

T20 World Cup USA, Inc. CEO Brett Jones expressed excitement over the high ticket demand, especially for the India-Pakistan match. He emphasized the importance of catering to existing cricket fans in the US while also aiming to generate interest among Americans who may be new to the sport.

In addition to India and Pakistan, teams like Ireland, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Canada will also compete in the tournament. Organisers are working to improve facilities and infrastructure in venues like Lauderhill and Grand Prairie to ensure a successful event.

The tournament kicks off on June 1 with a match between the US and Canada in Texas. US vice-captain Aaron Jones hopes that the team’s performance in the tournament will inspire young cricket enthusiasts in the country and establish the US as a competitive cricketing nation.
