Interim Cabinet Meeting: PM Kakar States Limited Term of Government, Vows to Serve Nation

The caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, addressed the first meeting of the newly-formed interim cabinet, acknowledging the temporary nature of their mandate while promising to serve the nation to the best of their ability. The interim cabinet consists of a diverse group, including politicians, TV personalities, retired bureaucrats, and servicemen, with a majority representing the PML-N and PPP parties.

During the meeting, PM Kakar expressed his pride in working with such a talented team and conveyed his hopes that they would guide the nation effectively during the interim period. He stressed that their time in office was limited and they would focus on upholding national and international commitments made by previous governments. Furthermore, they would support new initiatives within the bounds of the law and Constitution, specifically mentioning the implementation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

PM Kakar described the establishment of the council as a dream come true, especially for the people of Balochistan who take pride in the country’s natural resources. He emphasized that the support and involvement of all institutions, led by the Pakistani military, were crucial in realizing this long-awaited national dream. He also emphasized that this idea belonged to the entire nation and invited everyone to actively contribute towards its success.

Addressing the polarization within society, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of differentiating between politics and the rule of law. He stressed that maintaining order was a vital prerequisite to upholding the rule of law and ensuring a peaceful governance system that respected all religious and ethnic communities. He cited Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s historic speech on August 11, 1947, which focused on the inclusion of all individuals and the rejection of identity-based rights.

PM Kakar emphasized the government’s commitment to financial discipline despite significant economic challenges. He acknowledged the sanctity of taxpayers’ money and emphasized the duty of the caretaker government to deliver efficient services and create a secure environment for all citizens.

Regarding minority rights, PM Kakar assured that the government would protect vulnerable groups. He condemned any attempts by marginalized or peripheral factions to harm minorities, emphasizing that the state and society would respond firmly. He reiterated that the majority had a responsibility to safeguard the basic dignity, security, and well-being of minority communities.

In conclusion, PM Kakar highlighted the need to discourage rigidity and extreme attitudes in society. He emphasized that the interim government aimed to prioritize the collective Pakistani dream and work towards its realization, guided by the ideals of the enlightened philosopher-poet, Allama Iqbal.
