Illegal Hunting Group’s Firing Injures 2 Wildlife Officials

Lahore: 2 wildlife officials were injured in firing by a group of illegal bird hunters in Chakwal. According to details, one wildlife officer and one head wildlife watcher were injured in the firing, while the hunters managed to flee. However, an FIR has been registered at Neela Police Station regarding the incident.

Under the leadership of Assistant Director Wildlife Chakwal Adnan Ali, head wildlife watcher Abdul Wahab, Hameed Anis, and driver Muhammad Jameel, a routine patrol in the area of Taliwal Tehsil and Iriam in Chakwal district encountered a hunting party engaged in illegal bird hunting with 12 bore rifles. As they attempted to confiscate firearms, cartridges, knives, and the hunted wild birds, the hunters opened fire on the wildlife staff.

As a result of the firing, head wildlife watcher Abdul Wahab was severely injured, while Assistant Director Wildlife Adnan Ali sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the legs and stomach. The injured head wildlife watcher Abdul Wahab has been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal.
