IHC Judge from Pakistan Predicts Prosecution of Intelligence Officials for Forced Disappearances

Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani stated during a hearing that there will come a day when intelligence officials will be held accountable for enforced disappearances. The commission was established to trace missing persons and fix responsibility on those responsible for it. Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan informed the court that 22 missing Baloch students had been recovered while the whereabouts of 28 others were still unknown. The hearing was attended by AGP Awan, Additional AGP Munawar Iqbal Dugal, representative Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir, and others. Justice Kayani expressed concern about the missing persons and stressed the importance of state institutions obeying the law. He also mentioned the trials of terrorists and criminals being held in the courts and the need for all anti-state elements to face trial. The case was adjourned until Feb 13.
