Higher Education Commission (HEC) Partners with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to Provide 2,000 Laptops

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has recently entered into an agreement with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to acquire 2,000 new laptops. These laptops will be allocated to returning officers (ROs) to facilitate the smooth conduct of the upcoming general elections.

Sources indicate that the HEC will procure high-quality laptops for this purpose.

Over 126.9 Million Registered Voters

In other news, the ECP has released a report stating that the total number of registered voters in Pakistan has surpassed 126 million.

Based on the data provided by the ECP as of September 19, 2023, the total number of registered voters across the country exceeds 126.9 million.

Youth Voting Bloc Holds Significance in Upcoming Elections

The report highlights that there are approximately 55.7 million young voters in Pakistan.

Furthermore, the data reveals that the male-female ratio of voters stands at 54.02% and 45.98%, respectively.

Age Group Analysis

The ECP report also provides a breakdown of voters by age groups. Notably, the highest number of eligible voters falls into the 26 to 35 years age bracket.

According to the statistics, around 57 million voters are between 18 and 35 years old. Additionally, 27.7 million (22%) are in the age group of 36 to 45 years, 18.1 million (14%) are between 46 and 55 years, 11.8 million (9%) are aged 56 to 65 years, and over 12 million (10%) are over the age of 65.

Provincial Distribution of Registered Voters

Among the provinces, Islamabad has over one million registered voters, while Punjab leads with 70.23 million registered voters.

Meanwhile, Balochistan has over 5.27 million registered voters, out of which 2.96 million are male and 2.31 million are female.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the number of registered voters exceeds 20.19 million, with 11.79 million being male and 9.82 million being female.

Sindh has a total of 26.52 million registered voters.

It is worth mentioning that during the previous 2018 general elections when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf came into power, the number of registered voters was 106 million.
