Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh has been arrested and handed over to the police on physical remand. This comes after his bail plea was rejected by the Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a terror case registered at Mubina Police Station.

Earlier, Sheikh was re-arrested outside the Karachi ATC on August 31, just hours after being ordered to be released. However, he was immediately taken into custody in another case by the Sindh police.

Haleem Adil Sheikh, the former opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, had disappeared after the May 9 vandalism. He was first arrested on August 30 when he arrived at the Sindh High Court seeking bail in the vandalism case.

The police had been seeking his arrest in connection with the violence that took place on May 9. Despite the challenges, Sheikh has stayed loyal to the PTI, unlike many other party leaders.

In a separate incident, Haleem Adil Sheikh had approached the Sindh High Court to challenge non-bailable arrest warrants issued by an anti-terrorism court in Hyderabad in relation to the May 9 mayhem case.
