The collapse of a residential building in Karachi’s Machhar Colony on Monday resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to 10 others due to a gas cylinder explosion, according to police and rescue officials. The deceased were 45 and 29 years old, and the injured included children aged three and six. They have been taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The explosion occurred inside a gas cylinder shop on the ground floor of the building near Bait-ul-Mukarram Masjid, as per a statement by the Keamari Police. Rescue teams and police are on the scene conducting a rescue operation, with reports of several people being trapped under the rubble. Ambulances are shown navigating crowded lanes to reach the site in television footage. In October, a similar incident occurred in a pizza joint in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, where two people were injured due to a cooking gas explosion. This is a developing story and will be updated as the situation unfolds. Initial reports may not always be accurate, so we will ensure accuracy by relying on credible sources such as qualified authorities and our staff reporters.
