Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, a former PTI MPA, was prevented from boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia at Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport. The incident occurred a day after his brother, a PTI chapter president, was taken into custody with six other party workers. Yousafzai was slated to depart for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah but was stopped by airport security officials without explanation. He plans to take legal action against the officials for offloading him without just cause. Yousafzai was released more than two hours after the plane departed. He was elected as an MPA in 2018 and currently serves as the PTI’s provincial senior vice president.
