In a heartfelt plea, Colombian footballer Luis Diaz has urged the rebel group ELN to release his father, who was kidnapped by the group. Diaz, who had been absent from Liverpool’s last two matches, made a triumphant return to the pitch, scoring a late equalizer in the English Premier League club’s game against Luton. After his goal, Diaz revealed a shirt with the message “Libertad Para Papa” (Freedom For Papa). In a social media post, he expressed his desperation and called for the prompt release of his father. Diaz’s mother was also kidnapped but was rescued shortly after. The Colombian government confirmed ELN’s responsibility for the kidnapping. Diaz’s family is in anguish and hopes for a swift resolution to the situation.
