The death toll from the fire that occurred in a multi-storey commercial and residential building near Ayesha Manzil in Karachi’s Federal B Area has risen to five, according to police on Thursday. The fire, which occurred a day earlier, was brought under control after significant efforts and the loss of 11 lives in a similar incident just a few days prior. The caretaker Sindh Chief Minister has ordered a probe into the incident, and the building has been sealed for inspection by the Sindh Building Control Authority. Residents affected by the fire have been provided with shelters and food, and the chief minister has vowed to ensure the safety of all important buildings to prevent such incidents in the future. Meanwhile, MQM-P has held the PPP responsible for the incident and has demanded compensation for the affected individuals and families.
