Karachi: The final of PCB’s ‘Power Cup’ is approaching, and it is expected that Zaka Ashraf will continue as the Chairman of the Management Committee or someone else will get the opportunity. The decision is expected to be made on Friday.

PCB has been facing instability for a long time. When the new management committee was formed under the leadership of Zaka Ashraf, Najam Sethi could not hold elections. His tenure will end on Sunday, so there is an expectation that a decision will be announced on Friday as it is the last working day.

Efforts are being made to extend Zaka Ashraf’s tenure, as Najam Sethi and a few other individuals are also vying for the position. On the other hand, the Prime Minister met with Anwarul Haq Kakar a day before yesterday to discuss Pakistan cricket affairs, where the former captain provided suggestions for improving the game.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister asked them to play an active role in improving cricket, to which Shahid Afridi responded by saying that he will carefully consider and respond regarding his responsibilities in the board.

It should be noted that the disappointing performance of the national team in the World Cup has led to allegations against Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq regarding biases and has stirred concerns in cricket circles, as Shahid Afridi has previously fulfilled the duties of Chief Selector for a short period.

Regarding the meeting, he said that the meeting with the Prime Minister was positive and he wants to play some role in improving national cricket in any capacity. I have requested some time for consideration before providing an answer.
