Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of JUI-F, has arrived in Kabul to hold discussions with Afghan leaders on regional and security issues. The trip marks his first visit to Afghanistan since the Taliban’s takeover in 2021. Fazl arrived alongside a delegation and met with Afghan Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir and Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. They discussed the potential positive impact of Fazl’s visit on relations between the two countries.

During the visit, Fazl plans to meet with Afghan Taliban leaders to discuss regional and security situations. The visit comes at a time of strained relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan due to a rise in terrorist attacks, with Pakistan expressing concerns about the use of Afghan soil by the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban. Fazl has stated that discussions on the TTP issue will be on the agenda during his visit to Afghanistan, and he plans to use his relationships with the Taliban leaders to benefit both countries.
