Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. In a similar event that occurred in August, a taxi driver was shot dead by unknown robbers in New Karachi for failing to stop his vehicle during a robbery attempt.

According to reports, the incident took place when the taxi driver, known as Mumtaz, was ferrying passengers from Jinnah International Airport to New Karachi. As the taxi approached the jurisdiction of Bilal Colony police station, unidentified robbers intercepted Mumtaz and demanded him to halt the vehicle.

Mumtaz bravely resisted and refused to stop the car, which provoked the robbers to open fire, resulting in his instant death. The police have collected evidence from the crime scene and an active investigation is currently underway.

It is worth mentioning that Mumtaz, originally from Nathia Gali, was living alone in Greentown. Tragically, the family has already suffered loss due to a similar robbery incident 8 years ago, in which Mumtaz’s brother, Riyaz, was also killed by robbers.
