Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was re-arrested shortly after being discharged by a court in the Lahore Master Plan case, according to his lawyer. The officials claimed that Elahi was arrested in a terrorism case and was being taken to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Elahi is one of several PTI leaders and workers who have been arrested as part of the state’s crackdown on the PTI leadership following the violent riots that occurred in the country after Imran’s initial arrest on May 9.

The court had reserved its decision on the request made by the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and later dismissed Elahi, discharging him in the case. The court also instructed authorities to release Elahi immediately if he was not required in any other case.

Elahi was charged under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947. The case alleges that Elahi misused his authority as the then-Chief Minister by colluding with a Lahore Development Authority Director to illegally alter the draft of the Lahore Master Plan 2050, resulting in an increase in the value of his sons’ land.

This is not the first time Elahi has been arrested. He has been detained multiple times since June 1, following the May 9 incident. The timeline of his arrests shows a series of cases and releases, reflecting the ongoing legal battles he has faced.

Despite the court’s discharge, Elahi continues to face legal challenges and re-arrests. The situation highlights the complexity and persistence of the legal proceedings against him. The case seems to be politically charged, given Elahi’s position as the President of the PTI. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold and what impact they will have on Elahi and his political career.
