The celebration of Eid al-Fitr will take place on Wednesday, April 10. Here is how to wish someone a blessed Eid in various languages from around the world. In Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries, the first day of Eid will be observed on April 10 as the new moon was not sighted on Monday evening after Maghrib prayers, leading to the completion of 30 days of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr, also known as the “festival of breaking the fast,” is celebrated by Muslims globally at the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.

There are approximately 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, making up about 25 percent of the global population. The country with the highest Muslim population is Indonesia, with around 240 million Muslims. Pakistan follows with about 225 million Muslims, then India (211 million), Bangladesh (155 million), and Nigeria (111 million).

Traditionally, Eid is celebrated for three days as an official holiday in Muslim-majority countries, although the number of days off varies by country.

Eid day celebrations typically begin with a prayer service at dawn followed by a brief sermon. The rest of the day is spent visiting relatives and neighbors, receiving sweets, and exchanging Eid greetings as people go from one house to another.

The most common greeting for Eid is “Eid mubarak” (Blessed Eid) or “Eid sa’id” (Happy Eid), though Eid greetings may vary depending on the country and language spoken.

The video and graphics below showcase Eid greetings in 14 different languages.
