The Election Commission of Pakistan has denied reports of a delay in the upcoming general elections, calling them “baseless and misleading”. The commission confirmed that the agreed upon date for the polls is February 8, 2024, and rejected claims citing security concerns in Balochistan and recent terrorism as reasons for postponement. The commission also announced that the final report on redrawn constituencies will be published as planned on November 30. Additionally, a code of conduct for the elections has been finalized in consultation with political parties, and necessary arrangements for the printing of ballot papers and purchasing election materials have been completed. The ECP emphasized that it is fully prepared to hold the elections and is ensuring timely delivery of electoral rolls to returning officers.
