All registered political parties in Pakistan are obligated to submit their annual financial reports in order to be eligible for election symbol allocation, according to sources.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had previously instructed political parties to submit their consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year 2022-23 by August 29.

Out of 168 political parties, 107 have already submitted their audited financial statements to the election commission. However, 61 parties are yet to file their financial reports, sources revealed.

Notable political entities, including the People’s Party, PML-N, PTI, MQM, ANP, JUI, BAP, BNP, and the National Party, have submitted their financial statements to the ECP. However, smaller parties such as the APML, Rah-e-Haq Party, Awami Muslim League, and others are among those who have not yet submitted their financial reports, as per sources.

The submission of financial reports is a crucial requirement for ensuring transparency and accountability in the political process. It enables the ECP to assess the financial status and expenditure of political parties.

By adhering to these regulations, the ECP aims to foster fair and democratic elections by promoting financial transparency and preventing corruption in political activities.
