The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) clarified that Secretary Omar Hamid Khan was on medical rest but the commission was still fully functional. The statement came following reports that Khan had stepped down from his post due to ill health, raising concerns about conducting timely elections. The ECP assured that it was facing no hurdles in performing its job and that the secretary’s absence was being managed efficiently by two special secretaries. Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi also shared the statement on social media, urging people to refrain from paying attention to rumors and emphasizing that the election commission was fully operational.
