During a raid at a hookah bar in Mumbai, popular Indian stand-up comedian and winner of reality show Big Boss season 17, Munawar Faruqui, was arrested. The raid took place at around 10:30 pm on March 26 in Mumbai, and continued until 5 am the next morning.
The report mentioned that Munawar Faruqui was present at the hookah bar during the raid, and was taken into custody along with 14 other individuals. After being held in custody for several hours, all 14 individuals, including Munawar Faruqui, were released.
Speaking to the media, the police revealed that the hookah bar was operating illegally and had several offences under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act registered against the individuals present. The police are still investigating the incident.
According to the police, Munawar Faruqui was consuming hookah during the raid, and videos of the comedian smoking hookah are also in police possession as evidence.
