Over 40 T-Rex races have been held in various cities of Japan from 2022 onwards. It is believed that T-Rex costume racing started in 2019 when a group of people wearing T-Rex costumes participated in a race at the Emerald Downs race track in Washington.
While this type of racing may not have gained much popularity in the West, it has become quite popular in Japan. The first race was held in April 2022 in the city of Daisen.
Since then, it has become a trend and over 40 events have been held in different parts of the country. The 36-year-old founder of T-Rex racing in Daisen, Naoki Kawamoto, said that wearing these costumes allows players to do things they couldn’t do as humans, and if you are a T-Rex, there is nothing to be ashamed of.
