The situation in Gaza has reached a critical point, with Palestinians struggling to survive amid ongoing Israeli attacks and limited humanitarian aid. In the Rafah area near the border with Egypt, hungry and desperate Palestinians were seen jumping onto aid trucks in order to get food and other supplies.
The amount of aid allowed into the strip is not enough to meet the needs of the people, leading to a state of “survival mode” for many. People are without homes, access to food, water, and medical supplies.
The United Nations has warned that the situation in Gaza has reached a point where people are “desperate for food,” with nearly half of the population being described as starving and not knowing where their next meal will come from. Aid deliveries are slow, and the surge in needs is not being met due to delays in truck inspections at the Rafah crossing.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is further exacerbated by the Israeli military’s assault on the southern part of the enclave, which has led to widespread displacement and a high concentration of people seeking shelter in the Rafah area.
Despite the dire situation, people are continuing to be targeted by Israeli air strikes, adding to the already devastating toll of casualties and destruction in the region.
