A video of a delivery person in the United States spitting on a customer’s food parcel over a low tip has gone viral on social media, causing widespread outrage.
The viral video captures the delivery person standing at the customer’s doorstep, waiting for payment and a tip. After checking the screen multiple times, the delivery person walks towards the food parcel and spits on it three times. Expressing his disapproval, he mutters, “I didn’t tell you… They left me nothing.”
According to a foreign news agency, the customer, a 13-year-old named Elias Crisanto and his mother, had tipped the delivery person $3 (Rs893). Speaking to the media, Elias Crisanto revealed that the delivery person acted out of control because he deemed the tip inadequate.
Elias Crisanto contacted the delivery company to request a refund, but his request was denied. The company’s service line claimed that he should have handled the situation “better.”
Delivery persons work tirelessly day in and day out, expecting a fair tip for their service. However, there are times when they deem the tip to be insufficient and take matters into their own hands. This incident is not an isolated case; recently, a waiter at a French restaurant harassed a customer for not tipping him enough.
As reported by a foreign news agency, an Italian man dined at an upscale restaurant in the French town of Saint Tropez and left a €500 (Rs162,612) tip, which amounted to 10% of the bill. Dissatisfied with this amount, the waiter chased and berated the customer, insisting that he expected a 20% tip.
The customer, who was content with the tip he had left, had his friend intervene and demand a €1000 tip instead, accusing the waiter of pressuring them to “rectify their mistake.”
