The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to appoint Shahid Afridi as the vice captain for the ICC T20 World Cup. Reports suggest that PCB did not offer the vice captaincy to Shahid Afridi, and if someone was to be appointed as vice captain, it would have been announced with the national squad. Babar Azam is the appointed captain of the national team. Meanwhile, there are circulating reports on various media platforms that the selection committee had offered fast bowler Shahid Afridi the vice captaincy, but he declined to accept the position. It should be noted that after the defeat in the New Zealand tour, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani had removed Shahid Afridi from leadership and re-appointed Babar Azam as captain.
