Officials at Karachi’s Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) reported the abandonment of the body of a minor boy on Wednesday. Police believed the child had died in a road accident, but the police surgeon noted signs of both physical and sexual abuse on the body. According to the hospital staff, the boy was brought in by two men who fled before any paperwork could be completed. The child, a resident of Qayyumabad, had reportedly left home at 9:30am and the accident occurred around 11:00am. The car the boy was brought in had been traced, and police are working to locate the suspects. The South Deputy Inspector General of Police has directed authorities to obtain CCTV footage and investigate the incident. The JPMC confirmed the child’s post mortem examination revealed multiple injuries consistent with chronic abuse, and samples have been collected to determine the cause of death.
