Death of Ugandan Athlete Benjamin Kiplagat in Kenya Shocks Athletic Community

Kenyan-born athlete Benjamin Kiplagat has been found dead in Kenya, with reports suggesting he was murdered. His body was discovered with a knife wound to the neck in a car on the outskirts of Eldoret, a town known for its high-altitude training facilities for athletes. The local police have launched an investigation into his death.

Kiplagat, who represented Uganda in the 3,000-metre steeplechase at international events, had a successful running career spanning 18 years. He won a silver medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships and bronze at the Africa Championships in 2012. His death has prompted shock and sadness in the athletics community, with condolences pouring in from around the world.

His tragic death comes just months after the killing of Kenyan distance running star Agnes Tirop, who was also found stabbed to death in the same region. Her husband is currently on trial for her murder.
