Princess Nozwe Zulu, a former ANC municipal councillor, is now throwing her support behind the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, a new political party endorsed by former President Jacob Zuma, in hopes of driving much-needed change in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Zulu, like many disillusioned voters, believes that the ANC has failed to address issues of corruption, lack of accountability, and white privilege during its 30 years in power. Following Zuma’s endorsement of the MK party, many voters, including former ANC supporters, are now turning to the new party in hopes of addressing these longstanding issues. Despite controversy surrounding Zuma’s political career, his popularity within the Zulu community is proving to be a significant driver in the MK party’s rise, particularly in KZN. As the country prepares for upcoming elections, the success of the MK party in challenging the ANC’s dominance in South African politics remains to be seen.
