The talks between PPP and PML-N on determining a power-sharing formula for the upcoming coalition government have not reached a conclusion. Both sides claimed “significant progress” but have not finalized an agreement. The third meeting between the Contact and Coordination Committees (CCCs) of the two parties took place on Saturday and ended without a decision. They plan to meet again on Monday to continue their discussions.

The PML-N was represented by Ishaq Dar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, while the PPP included former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah, Saeed Ghani, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nadeem Afzal Chan, and Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.

The PPP has assured PML-N of its support in the formation of the government and the election of the next prime minister, on the condition that it will receive key constitutional offices, including the president’s. Despite their support, the PPP has stated that it will not take ministries in the federal cabinet.

There have been discussions about the allocation of development funds for provinces and the formation of provincial governments in Punjab and Balochistan. Both parties are claiming to form their own government in Balochistan.
