The PTI founder and lawyer Sikandar Zulqarnain’s petitions have been cancelled, including the cause list.
They had filed petitions against the appointment of two state defence counsels for the accused in the cipher case.
Sikandar Zulqarnain advocate argued that the appointment of state defence counsels denied the right to cross-examination.
The cancellation of the cause list also called off the hearing of their petitions.
The court had appointed Malik Abdul Rehman as the PTI founder’s defence counsel and Hazrat Younis to defend former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Judge Abual Hasnaat Muhammad Zulqarnain noted in the order that the defence counsel had agreed to conduct cross-examinations but did not appear at the next two court hearings.
The order stated, “Despite several opportunities given to the learned counsels for accused persons, this court is left with no choice but to appoint defense counsels for the accused to conduct cross-examination of the prosecution witnesses.”
