The upcoming protest scheduled by the Civil Aviation Officers Association of Pakistan (COAP) has been deemed illegal by a spokesperson from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). According to the spokesperson, COAP, being an unregistered union, does not have the authority to organize protests.

The CAA management has already engaged with the registered union of employees and has received suggestions from union chairman Ayaz Butt. These suggestions will be presented in the CAA’s next board meeting. However, there are individuals attempting to disrupt this process by participating in protests organized by unregistered unions, wasting the time of CAA employees.

Meanwhile, during a COAP meeting at the CAA press club, the power supply was disconnected. Chairman COAP, Zareen Gul Durrani, claimed that this action was taken on the direction of the DG CAA. Despite these hurdles, the meeting continued as planned, with the CAA management removing the chairs and tables.

Earlier, officers and employee unions of the CAA had announced their plans to stage protests at airports nationwide. These unions are also advocating for the removal of the current DG CAA in response to the government’s decision to outsource the management of three major airports. This decision has sparked strong protests from CAA employees.
