Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, is scheduled to meet with Babar Azam today (November 11). Sources have revealed that Babar Azam will be asked to resign as the skipper of Pakistan’s ODI and T20 teams.

It is likely that left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will replace Babar Azam as the skipper in the T20s, while Shah Masood is being considered for the captaincy of Pakistan’s test side on the Australia tour. The final decision will be made after the meeting between Zaka Ashraf and Babar Azam, with a separate meeting of the management committee also scheduled to be held.

Babar Azam’s leadership skills and performance have been criticized by former cricketers, experts, and fans since the Asia Cup 2023. Criticism over his laidback approach, poor bowling selection, and field settings intensified after the team was eliminated from the group stage of the ongoing 50-over tournament. He has been advised to step down as captain and focus on his individual performance. Additionally, a new captain’s appointment is being discussed as PCB chief calls for a meeting.
