In a recent development, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has dismissed the interim bail plea of the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in seven cases, including the Jinnah House attack case. The plea was heard by ATC Judge Aijaz Buttar.

During the hearing, the lawyer for the former prime minister, Barrister Salman Safdar, requested the court to grant his client a day’s exemption from appearing in court as he is currently in jail and unable to attend the bail extension proceedings. Safdar also pleaded with the court not to reject the plea on technicalities.

The judge, however, pointed out that the accused had already been given numerous chances. Consequently, the court dismissed the interim bail pleas of the former prime minister and PTI chairman in all seven cases.

This decision by the ATC signifies a significant setback for the PTI chairman, as it means he will remain in custody until further legal proceedings take place. The dismissal of bail pleas indicates the court’s stance on ensuring accountability and upholding the rule of law in the country.

It should be noted that this development comes amidst a wave of accountability measures being taken by the government against high-profile individuals involved in corruption and other illegal activities. The decision of the ATC reinforces the government’s commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring justice for all.

As the proceedings continue, further updates regarding the cases against the PTI chairman will be provided. It remains to be seen how this episode will impact the political landscape and the future of the PTI party.
