Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, has emphasized that the fight against various illegal activities will continue with relentless effort to eliminate substantial economic losses in Pakistan. The commitment was made during a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee of Punjab, which was attended by caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The COAS was greeted by the Lahore Corps Commander before being briefed on the overall security situation, including actions against electricity theft, gas theft, hoarding, and foreign currency smuggling, as stated by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The forum also discussed the measures taken to protect minorities and reviewed the progress of operations in riverine areas. The repatriation of illegal foreign nationals was also addressed. Furthermore, progress on the Special Investment Facilitation Council and Green Punjab initiatives was shared during the meeting.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and government departments, General Munir stated, “Law enforcement actions against a spectrum of illegal activities will continue with full force in collaboration with the LEAs and the concerned government departments to rid Pakistan of the substantial economic losses it continues to suffer due to pilferage done by different methods.” He also emphasized the need for synergy among all relevant departments to ensure the success of these initiatives.

The participants of the meeting echoed their commitment to the progress and prosperity of the province, emphasizing the unity among state institutions, government departments, and the people.

Earlier this month, General Munir met with the business community in Lahore and assured them of promoting transparency in dollar exchange and foreign exchange.
