The proposal to increase the benefits for employees under the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) is also under consideration. The federal government is expected to announce a 10 to 15 percent increase in the salaries of government employees in the upcoming federal budget for the financial year 2024-25, while a 10 percent increase in pension for retired employees is also expected.
Furthermore, there is a possibility of introducing pension reforms to reduce the burden on the national exchequer. According to sources, the government is currently discussing proposals for salary increases for employees in the next financial year, taking into account IMF conditions, inflation, and other factors, with consultations ongoing with the provinces.
It is said that the announcement of a 10 to 15 percent increase in the salaries of employees by government in the budget for the financial year 2024-25 is expected. However, the final decision will be made after the government reviews the recommendations of the Ministry of Finance. If this increase is approved, it will be implemented from July 2024.
