Karachi: Who will be the new chief of Karachi Police? The Sindh government has started consultations on this matter. According to police sources, the names of Additional IG Munir Sheikh and DIG Azad Khan have been finalized for the position of Chief of Karachi Police by the Sindh government, Following the removal of IG Sindh Raffat Mukhtar Raja from his position, it has been decided by the Sindh government to remove Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind from his position as well.
Two names are being considered for Additional IG Karachi, including Munir Sheikh and Azad Khan. Munir Sheikh has served in various capacities in the East, South Karachi, Balochistan, and Punjab police, and has also served in the Federal Investigation Agency. Azad Khan is currently serving as the head of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) Sindh and has previously held important positions as DIG South and DIG Sukkur. Former Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho is also being considered for the position of Additional IG Karachi, but sources say that Javed Alam Odho will be appointed to an important position in Balochistan.
If he cannot be appointed to this position, then Javed Alam Odho will be the third candidate for Additional IG Karachi. The Sindh government is concerned about the increasing street crime, car and motorcycle thefts, burglaries, and increasing incidents of dacoities in homes in Karachi, as a result of which the decision to remove Additional IG Karachi Khadim Hussain Rind has been made.
Khadim Hussain Rind was appointed as the Chief of Karachi Police under the negligent government, during which the security situation worsened and no effective policing strategy was implemented. As a result of this, the decision has been taken to remove Khadim Hussain Rind, in Karachi last year, 44 citizens have lost their lives in incidents of street crimes.
