Students from Karachi have reached the Netherlands to gain expertise in the field of law, where they will learn about legal proceedings in the court. A four-member delegation from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law in Karachi, consisting of students Mahboob Arshad, Mohammad Ali, Shahid Hussain, and Fatima Samia, has reached the Netherlands to participate in the moot court competition of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) in 2024.

This moot court competition will be held on a large scale from May 31 to June 7, 2024 with the aim of enhancing understanding of courtroom proceedings and the legal proceedings of the International Criminal Court among students. Participants present written and oral arguments in a hypothetical case. This competition will provide students with the first-hand experience of presenting legal arguments before expert panels, including judges from international courts, professors of international humanitarian law, and other legal professionals.

The competition focuses on fundamental issues of international humanitarian law and includes a written round and an oral round where arguments are presented during discussions. The teams participating in the competition act as rescuers, legal representatives of the affected parties, and defense lawyers, preparing written notes through legal experts to reach the next rounds. Participants compete for various awards, such as the Best Speaker IBA Award and the Best Memorial Award.

During this interesting competition held throughout the week, the students engage in educational and social programs including seminars with representatives from the ICC and other essential stakeholders in international justice. By representing Pakistan, these students are shining the name of their university and country at the international level. Their selection for this competition is evidence of their exceptional abilities and hard work in the field of law.
