Peshawar: A 400 to 500-year-old peepal tree, which was considered one of the oldest trees in the city, was cut down in front of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s ancestral home in Peshawar. The relevant authorities have chosen to remain silent on the matter.
The historical storytelling market connects to the Shah Wali Qatal, a place where incidents usually occur in Peshawar’s old areas, including the ancestral home of Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan. The ancient tree was cut down yesterday and the entire tree was smashed into pieces in one blow.
It was stated that earlier attempts were made to cut down this tree, but only one branch was cut, which led to protests by the locals and the cutting of the tree was stopped. However, this time, the cutting of the tree has been silently carried out.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar and Mayor Peshawar have also expressed ignorance about the matter, and no shopkeeper or citizen in the old areas of Peshawar resisted the cutting of the tree.
It should be noted that besides Shah Rukh Khan’s ancestral home in Shah Wali Qatal, his uncle Ghulam Muhammad Gama’s shop is also located there, and Shah Rukh Khan’s father has also lived in the same area.
