Beijing: China has strongly condemned the suicide attack in Shangla, stating that any attempt to disrupt Pak-China relations will not succeed. China has also demanded a comprehensive investigation into the attack in Pakistan and holding those responsible accountable.
In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that on March 26th, a vehicle carrying workers for the Dasu hydropower project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Shangla district was targeted in a terrorist attack, resulting in the deaths of five Chinese and one Pakistani national. China strongly condemns this terrorist attack.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson further stated that China calls for prompt and comprehensive investigations into terrorist attacks against Pakistan, holding those responsible accountable, and taking strict security measures for Chinese citizens, projects in Pakistan, and Chinese institutions.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Chinese citizens and businesses in Pakistan to stay alert to the local situation, enhance security measures, improve protective measures, and make every possible effort to prevent terrorist attacks.
According to the Chinese spokesperson, after the incident, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Chinese Embassy to express condolences for the deaths of Chinese citizens, strongly condemning the terrorist attack and vowing not to let it affect Pak-China relations.
On the same day, President of Pakistan Asif Zardari, Foreign Minister, and Interior Minister also strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the Chinese government and people for the deaths of Chinese citizens.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that China and Pakistan are strategic partners in every situation and are extremely friendly countries, with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor playing a crucial role in Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs further stated that any attempt to sabotage Pak-China cooperation will not succeed. China fully supports Pakistan in condemning all forms of terrorism and in combating terrorism.
